FR Logos

As someone who is primarily an infrastructure consultant, I sometimes get asked questions around the applications themselves.  Assuming someone isn’t asking me to fix their chart-of-accounts, I like to try and figure these things out.

A recent question from a client was how to update their corporate logo in Financial Reporting.  It would seem this should be simple, since you can import .jpg, .bmp, and .gif files.  Based on that, you would think you could simply import the file type that is supported and insert it into a Financial Report.  But, it turns out that isn’t the case.

Instead, you’d be recommended to check the Financial Reporting Web Studio Guide, and in particular Chapter 4 ‘Working with Images’:

In this guide, you will find that using an image file is actually a multi-step process.

First, you import the file into the Report you’re working with.  This is done by being in the header and selecting ‘Insert Image’ into the header.  If you simply save the report now, you will find that there is no image in the report when you go to run it.

For the second step, you need to click the small ‘Save’ Icon next to the Image you will now see in the Header.  This will then prompt you to save the image as an object somewhere in the FR folder structure as a Financial Reporting Object it recognizes.

Below are some screenshotted steps to guide you.

Select Image:

Choose Local File and Import:

Save the Image as an FR Object by clicking the ‘Save’ Icon next to the imported image and filling out the following screen:

Verify the Logo Image save in Workspace / Explore:
