Client Success Story: Commercial Home Services Client
Background
Client wanted to move from an on-premise system running Sesame Database Manager to an OCI based system running the same software. The drivers were aging hardware, the need for external support for the environment, and the need for regular backups. .
Implementation Highlights
OCI Infrastructure Architected
Sesame upgraded to Sesame DBM 2
All Windows environment upgraded to Windows 2019
Regular OCI Backups
Silver Plan for OCI regional backups of Boot and Block volumes
Managed Services for reduced support overhead
Project Statistics:
One OCI Host
One Sesame DB database
Office 365 on server for ease of invoicing
Bucket storage for capturing/archiving image files needed in manufacturing process.
Challenge
Client needed to upgrade an older version of Sesame to the latest version, refresh the overall hardware footprint, and add managed services support to address business continuity needs. In addition, they had a desire to keep costs low, and were interested in leveraging the adaptability of cloud computing to reduce compute costs when systems were not in use.
Outcomes
The client was able to move from the existing on-premise solution to an OCI hosted environment in approximately two weeks. As part of that process, the environment was configured with advanced alerting for outages and issues, and automated processes were enabled to shut down the environment nightly to save on costs. They were also on-boarded into iArch Solutions Managed Services offering, allowing the client to relieve themselves of the burden for managing and troubleshooting OCI and Sesame issues.
