Client Success Story: Global Manufacturing Client

Background

Oracle Hyperion/EPM System “Lift and Shift” upgrade (11.1.2.4 to 11.2.18) with a migration from on premise servers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Engaged to oversee the architecture, installation, migration, SIT/UAT, and implement a Disaster Recovery (DR) solution.

  • 2 FDMEE Applications (20 Custom FDMEE scripts)

  • 350 Custom Automation Scripts

Challenge

Client needed to upgrade an old and unsupported release to EPM 11.2.x. In addition, they had other corporate systems moving to OCI and wanted to use EPM as the flagship early adopter for OCI migration. The environments supported Planning/Essbase and HFM components and relied on large amounts of custom scripting and automations that needed to be migrated from Windows batch command over to LINUX scripting. The client also required 24x7 follow the sun support for all of the OCI and EPM systems post go-live.

Outcomes

The client started their OCI architecture build and migration process in December, and completed the migration and testing of all components within 7 months for a June go-live. This included the migration of all components to 4 EPM environments, and the successful testing of an end-to-end DR process. The upgrade was a success that keeps the client supported for years to come, as they explore Oracle’s SaaS offerings, as a future end-state. The client also leverages iArch Solutions Managed Services for the ongoing support of the environment.
