OCI Load balancer backend set session persistence when set to “Drain State”

I recently took the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2019 Architect Associate exam. There was a question about Load Balancers and I only knew half the answer. I went back after the exam to search for the correct answer but had a really hard time finding it in any of the materials I had been using to study. This includes the videos and the transcripts too. Eventually I found the answer. The question I ran into is similar to the one below.
Which two will occur when a back-end server that is registered with a back end set is marked to drain connections?
A. It forcibly closes all connections to that instance after a timeout period.
B. It keeps the connections to that instance open and attempts to complete any in-flight requests.
C. It disallows new connections to that back-end server.
D. It immediately closes all existing connections to that instance.
E. It redirects the requests to a user-defined error page.
At the bottom of the page I did find this excerpt: “The Load Balancing service considers a server marked drain available for existing persisted sessions. New requests that are not part of an existing persisted session are not sent to that server.”
Based on this piece of information I am led to believe that the correct second half to the question is B. It keeps the connections to that instance open and attempts to complete any in-flight requests. Please feel free to respond to this and let me know your thoughts.

Oracle has great tool to help you evaluate and compare different releases of Hyperion EPM. It covers releases back to 9.3.1 up to its newest release of 11.2.1.0.000. Using this tool, you will be able to see the products that continue to be available and the ones that have been discontinued. For those products that have not been discontinued the report will show what Oracle has done to improve the functionality and user interface of each Product.
It is fairly straight forward from there. Please select your current release. Or the earlier version of the 2 you wish to compare.
I have chosen 11.1.2.3
Next choose your Target version. Here I have chosen 11.2
Now choose the Products you wish to compare. I have chosen to compare Calculation Manager, EPM Architect and Essbase. Then click on “Generate Report.”
As you can see here it shows all the major changes and improvements that have been made up to the newest release requested.
If you take a look at EPM Architect, you will see that the last release is shown to be in 11.1.2.4. Meaning that it is no longer available in later releases.
As a further example, let’s look at Essbase.
I hope this was helpful for you to get a look into your future. Please use this tool as a starting point to help you understand what EPM Products are available in newer releases. Feel free to contact iArch Solutions to answer any of your Hyperion EPM infrastructure and Application questions.
iArch Solutions is excited to welcome Brad Spelman as the newest member of the iArch Solutions team! In case you haven’t heard Microsoft is finally ending support for Windows 7. That’s right folks, if you’re stilling running a 10-year-old operating system, you’re out of support now.
This means Microsoft won’t be answering technical calls, offering patches or security fixes/updates.
Your path forward should probably be a quick upgrade to Windows 10. Of course, it’s probably best that you install Windows 10 on a new set of hardware, since the hardware running Windows 7 is also outdated.
If you’re running legacy software that requires Windows 7 and some of its components, please reach out to us for upgrade advise.
